I started training in 2016. I weighed 175 pounds and wore a size 14 in clothes. In 10 weeks I dropped to 135 pounds and to a size 4 in clothes. I did my first fitness competition in March 2017 (Lee Banks) and placed 1st in the Bikini Masters (40+) and 2nd in Bikini Novice. I then learned I had breast cancer a month after my first competition. I had a double mastectomy in May 2017 then 12 rounds of chemo and reconstructive surgery in October 2017. I am proud to say that I am not cancer free and started back training in January 2018 for my next competition which is in May 2018 (Lee Banks). I decided to continue my training and compete to show that I am stronger and better than ever after battling and cancer. I also want to compete for those women who are still fighting this horrible disease and be their strength. I could not have accomplished this journey without my friends and family. I owe a lot to my personal trainer Ehab Mohamed who pushed me everyday and made me believe I had what it takes to compete. I also got a lot of strength and support from my "gym family" at Bailey's Powerhouse gym. The encouragement and support was more than I could have ever expected!
